Benny's First Question
when did you start playing guitar? when you started, were you thinking, "ok, i'm going to be a shredder!" or did you start out playing in a different style and then switch to being a shredder.
Marnie's Answer
I started when i was 15 at the suggestion of my mom. She thought it would be cool if I could learn because she always wanted to do it and never did.
I learned some basic open chords and would mess around writing really simple folky stuff. It stayed that way until I was around 21. Then I decided I wanted to get really good at guitar.

was it weird going from recording the demos for your album all by yourself in your apartment to recording in a studio with zach hill? i know that you are a big hella fan, so that must have been crazy!

Sure it was weird because there's always an adjustment period when you go from working on stuff alone to collaborating....I wasn't used to hearing the songs from anyone else's vantage point. It was also pretty intimidating going to work with Zach Hill, because I have so much respect for his work.. But it turns out we get along great and really enjoy working together.

are you excited about doing your first tour? are you going to be playing by yourself with an ipod, or with a band?

I AM PUMPED for the tour!!!!!!!!! Yeah, I'll be playing with an ipod, and it's gonna be "bandanas" which I heard today is the new extreme "bananas"!!

what have you been listening to lately?

Today I have been listening to ACDC's Thunderstruck/ Van Halen's Unchained/ Lightning Bolt/The new Hella 666 record/ and right now the movie Scarface is on in the background and Push It To The Limit is playing.

can you tell us about your dogs? i remember the first time i saw your website i was excited that there was a section devoted to your dog fig. are you going to miss them while you are on tour?

I kind of don't want to answer this question because I am going to miss them like you don't even know! I am not kidding. One of the dogs "fig" (aka figgy, winkie, wink, winky dink, #1) is a morkie: (yorkie mixed with maltese). Ellen Degeneres just got a morkie that she named mouse. Morkies are getting popular! My morkie, winky is 6 pounds..almost 8. Oh yes, I also call her sausage now because she is getting porky. Oh ben, I could talk about the dogs all day. A friend pointed out to me that on my cell phone, I have over 100 pictures and only 3 are NOT my dogs. Little Maeby Stern is lying on my stomach right now sleeping! Can you believe how lucky I am. They are my babies!!! Thank you for asking about them. I enjoy talking about them. A lot.

Practice practice practice. And don't try and play to other people's shit.
