Experimental imprint 5RC relaunches + MV Carbon & Charlemagne Palestine announce album

Kill Rock Stars' experimental and avant-garde label offshoot 5RC launched in 1997 and ran for 10 years.

Gertrude Stein famously said that if the 20th century hadn't happened, it would have been necessary to invent it. Kill Rock Stars credits her with inventing the 20th century. The goal of Kill Rock Stars’ label offshoot, 5RC, was to invent the 21st century. But there is more work to be done, so 5RC is back.

5RC is short-hand for 5 Rue Christine, one of the homes of Gertrude Stein and Alice B Toklas. It was successful in the 2000s with Deerhoof, Xiu Xiu, Hella, Metalux, and others.

In tandem with the 5RC renewal, we announce Liquiddd Changesss - an album created by artists MV Carbon and visual + avant artist Charlemagne Palestine. This marks a homecoming for Carbon, one part of the duo Metalux

Lead single "Glass from Sand" is available now.
