Habibi 'Nice Try' EP - tribute to Julz Sale of Delta 5
Habibi share their cover of “Try,” a tribute to Julz Sale. Julz Sale was the founding member of Delta 5. Rahill Jamalifard, the singer in Habibi, shared the following words:
"Deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Julz Sale, an unrivaled force in the macrocosm of punk music. The combination of driving baselines and Sale’s cool yet punching delivery really set Delta 5 apart from other bands of that era. When we set out to record our cover of "Try" six months ago, this all powerfully echoed back to me. I remember driving to the studio listening to the original song, hearing her hit the notes with an effortless power, playful but with conviction, she was truly one of one. Her legacy and contribution to punk will live on and continue to inspire, just as she inspired us."
The "Try" cover is part of Habibi’s three song covers EP titled Nice Try, which inaugurated their signing to Kill Rock Stars. Last week’s Kleenex/LiLiPUT "Nice" cover and a new take on Quix*o*tic's "The Breeze" round out the release. Nice Try is part of Kill Rock Stars' 30th anniversary covers series. Subscribe to it!
