On a mid-week evening, the narrator studies her lone reflection in a bar mirror where her lover’s face had floated beside hers before — a man she has to plead with to make love to her in the backseat of his car, or, of all places, on the sprinkler-soaked grass of a public park. (His house is out of the question: he belongs to someone else.) The contemplative lyrics express a relatable tale of turbulent young love while learning one’s worth and boundaries.
