Dear God, I Hate Myself came out in 2010 and was the final Xiu Xiu album Kill Rock Stars released before the band joined Polyvinyl and Bella Union.
This record's main sound comes from Angela Seo's discovery of the Korg DS-20 synth for the Nintendo DS. It was a transitory time for the band - Caralee McElroy left and Seo was just starting out. Having a palm-sized synth was all so fitting for the times, as Jamie Stewart notes, “It was written in transitory settings and during transitory moments, following that life's tone.”
Remastered from the original audio source.
Includes a 7” with 2 previously unreleased songs.
New liner notes from the artist, which elaborate on the above information.
Digital download includes drunk commentary for the full album.
Pressed on limited edition color vinyl - grey variants will be sold exclusively at retail shops, due out July 16th.
