Logan Lynn announces album + shares new single and video

Signaling his euphoric return to the dancefloor, today, iconic Portland songwriter, producer, filmmaker, television personality and activist Logan Lynn announces his new album New Money, set for release in early 2022. In tandem with the announcement, Logan also shared a new single and self-directed video for Eat&Drink&Smoke&Shop&Fuck.” Like August’s intoxicating Rich And Beautiful,” the single today is a thumping electro-pop banger wrestling with the concept of success and material emptiness while surviving a global pandemic.

Logan says, “I’m in long term recovery from drugs and alcohol and this past couple of years has really been a test. I’ve never been so thirsty — so in need of some relief — than during the pandemic. I had to really protect myself from myself, at times. This song is about the world going to shit and my wanting to throw in the towel and party in the midst of it all — which I did not do…but a gay can dream, ya know? In the end, I always end up screaming about this stuff and dancing it off. This was one of those times. Dance it off with me?”

Returning to his electro-pop roots after collaborations with 80’s pop star Tiffany, The Dandy Warhols and Styrofoam, New Money is Logan’s 10th studio album, but first for Kill Rock Stars. Produced in collaboration with longtime co-writer Gino Mari and written at home over the course of 2020, the album is a nine song testament to queer power, gay joy, and the belief that we will someday come back together, at shows, in crowds, and on the dance floor. Tackling themes of life in the face of suffering, Covid loneliness, and addiction recovery, lampooning New Portland and gentrification, and including two tributes to his all-time musical heroes Liz Phair and Elliott Smith, New Money is Logan’s infectious invitation to dance the last few years off.
